List of Best Animation Softwares in 3D production process

Hey guys..! today I am gonna talk a little bit about softwares and its uses this is just some of the softwares which are used in 3D production process of Animation and I think this list will help you all a most.

For modelling:

Autodesk Maya

Autodesk Maya

Autodesk Maya or we called simply as Maya and it is a product owned by Autodesk Inc.
It has the interesting path in the 3D software industry. Filled with a background of mergers, it serves as a great example of why 3D artists always need to keep up to date with their ever-evolving work environment. It is the best known 3D software in over the world and most of the artist and production companies used this software as their main source.
Autodesk Maya is mostly used for producing film in 3D production houses.

Autodesk Max

Autodesk 3Ds Max

Autodesk 3ds Max or we called simply as Max and it is also a product owned by Autodesk Inc.
It has the interesting path in the 3D software industry. It is the best known 3D software for gaming in over the world and most of the artist and gaming production companies used this software as their main source.
Autodesk Max is mostly used for gaming production houses and the best qualitative work is done in 3Ds max itself and it is well known for its rendering services which is awesome with some plugin like Vray etc.

Blender

blender 3D software

Blender is a professional free and open-source 3D computer graphics software product used for creating animated films, visual effects, art, 3D printed models, interactive 3D applications and video games. Blender's features include 3D modeling, UV unwrapping, texturing, raster graphics editing, rigging and skinning, fluid and smoke simulation, particle simulation, soft body simulation, sculpting, animating, match moving, camera tracking, rendering, video editing and compositing.
Alongside the modeling features it also has an integrated game engine.

For Scultping:

While the chief use for each of these three packages is digital sculpting and high-poly detailing, they all do much more than that. Each of them has its own strengths and weaknesses, and while ZBrush is certainly the most ubiquitous of the three, they're all worth checking into. Their usefulness in a texturing pipeline comes primarily from the fact that they can be used to add an incredible amount of detail information to your model, which can then be baked down into diffuse, normal, ambient occlusion, and cavity maps. All three of these also have 3D painting capabilities for seamless texture painting.

ZBrush

Z brush

ZBrush wears many hats, obviously. I think most artists would say that it's best-in-class for sculpting, and it's honestly only a few steps away from being an all-in-one content creation package. Learning ZBrush is a safe bet no matter what position you hold (or aspire to) in the industry.

Mudbox

Autodesk Mudbox

Everytime I start to think that Mudbox is an also-ran in the sculpting game, I learn of another top-tier artist that uses it instead of ZBrush in their workflow. The apps share a lot in common, and where ZBrush excells in sculpting and detailing, Mudbox has better painting tools and an easier interface. They both get the job done, but I'll say this—Mudbox is almost universally recognized as having a better workflow for painting diffuse textures directly on the surface of your model. Many liken Mudbox's painting tools to a 3D version of Photoshop, and that's really saying something.

3DCoat

3D Coat

I don't use 3DCoat, but I checked out all the documentation on their recent Version 4 beta release, and it's shockingly impressive. 3DCoat is way closer to parity with ZBrush and Mudbox than I though, and even beats them in certain regards. It's significantly less expensive to boot.

For 3D Painting:

BodyPaint 3D

A 3D painting app developed by Maxon with some fairly unique features like multi-channel painting, the ability to use Photoshop brushes in 3D, and ray-traced previews while you paint. Definitely a step up from most integrated 3D painting tools (like Zbrush's poly-paint).

Mari

Mari 3D software logo

Super-expensive 3D painting tool developed for use in high-end film pipelines. It supports ridiculously high resolutions and boasts some impressive film credits, but it's probably a bit out of reach (and frankly, overkill) for most individual artists.

For Retopology:

Even though retopology has more in common with modeling than texturing, I still consider it a part of the overall surfacing process:

Topogun

Topogun 3D software logo

Topogun is a stand-alone mesh re-surfacing tool, which also happens to have map baking capabilities. This has been a favorite tool with game artists for many years when it comes to complex retopology tasks. Although hand-made retopo has become unnecessary for certain assets (a low-poly rock, for example), Topogun is still a very good option for complex character remeshing.

Meshlab

Meshlab 3D software logo

Meshlab is an open source solution for mesh processing tasks like polygon reduction and cleanup. Honestly, it's more useful for 3D scan data, however it'll work in a pinch for mesh decimation is you don't have access to ZBrush, 3DCoat, Mudbox, or Topogun.

For UV Mapping:

Nobody likes creating UV maps (ok, maybe someone does), but these plugins sure make it easier:

Diamant Modeling Tools

Diamant is a pretty fully featured modeling plugin for Maya that also happens to include some pretty awesome UV tools. In fact, the tools included with Diamant are quite comparable to what you get with Headus, Roadkill, and Topogun, but you never have to leave Maya because it's all integrated. Of course, if you're a Maya user this won't help you much, but I quite like it!

Maya Bonus Tools

MBT are a list of tools for Maya that Autodesk distributes "as is," meaning they aren't officially supported. But they're incredibly useful and include an auto-unwrap UV tool that easily beats anything else included with Maya. There's a lot of overlap in the bonus tools with other plugins like Diamant, but Maya Bonus Tools are free so you really have nothing to lose by taking the time to install them.

Headus

Headus UVLayout is another standalone mapping tool. At one point, this was hands down the fastest UV tool in the game, but a lot of other packages (like Maya Bonus tools, Diamant, etc.) have caught up quite a bit. Color feedback for UV stretching is a nice feature.

Roadkill UV Tool

Roadkill is a standalone UV mapper for Max & Maya. It's a bit antiquated and no longer being developed, but it's one of the few tools with a (very useful) UV stretch shader.

Conclusion

Later on I will provide some awesome software details for other production levels like animation, Lighting, Compositing, VFX, Rendering etc In here some of the contents are I have taken from 3dabout.com

What is #animation | what do you mean by animation?

This is my old post which I have just rewrite to you to know simple definitions..!!

In generally when a person says "ANIMATION" it really means that he is telling or asking about the branch which a person have to study but, In practical, "ANIMATION" is a subject which contains the moving pictures or the illusion of moving pictures with a rapid display of sequence of images.

If you need a proper definition of Animation then you can write the below highlighted lines as a definition of animation

What is animation

What is Animation?

Animation: The word “ANIMATE” comes from the Latin verb “ANIMARE” means to make alive or to fill with breathe.
Animation is the rapid display of a sequence of images to create an illusion of movement. The most common method of presenting animation is as a motion picture or video program.
In simpler word animation means giving life to our imagination.

If someone ask me about the types of animation I simply answered that there are three types of animation:

1. 2D Animation

2. 3D Animation

3. Stop Motion Animation

but if we go for higher studies of animation then there are 4 types of Animation is there and from them that 4 types has some has more sub types, so it is a very long process to explain. So let me explain from this 3 basic types.

2D animation

2D Animation

2D Animation: (2-Dimensional Animation the term “2D” refers to animation that is created using two dimensional drawings. This type of animations is flat in nature and it’s also known as Traditional Animation, where typically it’s drawn on paper and then digitally outlined and coloured frame by frame. Classic hand drawn animation is the main example for this type.

2D animation is created through a series of images quickly flashing through several frames in minutes. Each image is slightly altered in each frame as desired, so that when play in sequence, they result in seamless changes and gradual movements.

In recent years, research on 2D image manipulation has received a huge amount of interest.Very powerful solutions for problems such as

Matting

Image Completion

Texture Synthesis

Rigid Image Manipulation have been presented. Based on these and similar methods, it has now become possible to explore interesting new ideas to reanimate still pictures.A variety of computer software programs aide in the creation of 2D Animation, programs include Adobe Illustrator, In Design, Adobe Photoshop and after effects as well as Apple Motion and Adobe Flash.

3D animation

3D Animation

3D Animation:“3D” refers to computer generated images (CGI) that creates the illusion of 3 dimensional space with great accuracy. In this type of animation, characters or objects are created or animated using a 3 dimensional (3D) software such as “Autodesk MAYA, Autodesk 3Ds Max,” etc.

3D animation creates a third dimension/depth, so that our cartoon don’t just look like drawings.

3D Modeling is nothing but the creation of a character or a model having three dimensions (as in real world) using the techniques and tools provided by a computer software.
The tool will provide a set of tools that a 3D artist can use to sculpt or model, an object in his imagination, into a 3d computer representation.
This 3D model can be altered, animated or rendered into a movie in accordance to the artists need. This is what 3D modeling is, if we look it from a broad top view.

Stop Motion Animation

Stop Motion Animation

Stop Motion Animation: - Stop motion animation is used to describe animation created by physically manipulating real world’s objects and photographing them one frame of film at a time to create the illusion of Movement.
There are many different types of stop motion animation, usually named after the medium used to create the animation. Some animators prefers to work with puppets using clay, a plastic material, or foam for stop motion animation, a digital video or film camera is placed on a tripod.
So the action can be filmed frame by frame, moving characters, objects and camera after almost every frame. Computerized motion control equipment is available to make this process easier and more precise.
Clay animation, or plasticize animation often called Claymation uses figures made of clay or a similar malleable material to create stop motion animation. The figures may have an armature or wire frame inside of them that can be manipulated to pose the figures.

So here I am starting my posts a small case studies about Anime...I hope you all will like it...and I will be waiting for your comments..!!

What Anime actually is?

anime

Anime is an abbreviation for the word animation.

As anime is comes under Animation but we always think Anime is different and Animation is different and one thing I want to tell you all that Animation is everything that we imagine, its beyond our imagination.
In general, Animation is giving life to our imagination.

In English, main dictionary sources define anime as "a Japanese style of motion-picture animation" or "a style of animation developed in Japan". Since anime or animçshon is used to describe all forms of animation, Japanimation is used to distinguish Japanese work from that of the rest of the world.

In Japan, manga can refer to both animation and comics. Manga is like most popular nowadays.

Anime often draws influence from manga, light novels, and other cultures.

If you Ask some people to the west you will find that the word anime is not always considered as referring to animation but it is thought to be a subset of animation.

Anime has a wide variety of artistic styles. There is some anime that is drawn by hand however there is also some that is computer assisted animation and nowadays that is much popular in softwares like Krita My paint and all..but Photoshop is much better than those..!!

Anime or manga tends to be targeted at teenage or young male adults. Anime is often considered a form of limited animation.
When it comes to anime, it is just like any other entertainment medium in which the actual story lines are used to actually represent the major genres of the actual fiction.
The actual history of anime is known to have begun in the very beginning of the twentieth century. This was the actual time that the Japanese filmmakers were experimenting with the techniques of animation.
This type of animation was also at that time being experimented with in other countries such as France and Germany as well as Russia and the United States as well.
As a result of this work and that of other pioneers in the field, anime developed characteristics and genres that are fundamental elements of the art today.

Anime became very popular in Japan because it provided an alternative outlet for the art of storytelling.
In sharp contrast when compared to the undeveloped industry of live action that was currently being used within Japan.
Anime-influenced animation refers to non-Japanese works of animation that emulate the visual style of anime. Some authorities say that Anime is closely related to the Japanese comics, called manga.

Anime also tends to borrow many elements from manga including text in the background, and borrowing panel layouts from the manga as well.

So, this is just a case study and I will be publishing some more in this page..! stay with me..!!
